Little Tikes from Prima Toys for my own Little Tike

Toy deliveries from Prima Toys

Every time a courier arrives at our door, or my phone rings and I answer with “ok, thanks I’m on my way” Dudie knows it’s a blog drop… It seems Troll is catching onto this as he hurriedly makes his way over to any unopened box to reveal or rather spill the contents faster than I can say “Did anyone notice that it has MY name on it”. However, my neighbour received the boxes from Prima Toys as we were stuck on the sports field with Dudie’s soccer match. Needless to say the boxes were opened as soon as they were brought into the house. We received the Little Tikes Big Car Carrier as well as the Handle Hauler Truck.

Babies, or am I now suppose to say toddlers, love to be on the floor. It’s fascinating to see how Troll’s imagination takes over during play time. The Little Tikes toys came at just the right time to keep Troll interested and stimulated during floor time play. I did have a jealous Dudie, who felt a little left out, as the toys are specifically aimed at younger children. But this Mama quickly pointed out that the box says for kids up to 12years 🙂 So both my boys get to enjoy the Little Tikes toys.

Little Tikes toys encourage play and movement

Little Tikes is a range of toys for indoor and outdoor play that will entertain your child while helping them to develop their mind and imagination. The toys encourage discovery and learning through active, creative and social play and provide hours of fun.

The products are created for babies and toddlers, as well as older children, with a focus on interaction, movement and learning. From outdoor sets to role-playing toys, the products encourage children to play, push, pull, bounce and more. The toys have been designed especially for little hands and are tough enough to endure being chewed, hit and thrown about.

Little Tikes Car Carrier

Little Tikes Big Car Carrier

If you’re looking for a toy that is durable and waterproof, yes Troll has taken his cars into the bath with him, then this is it. Also, according to Troll, the Big Car Carrier doubles as a human ride on toy. What amazed me is that it actually carries my 13kg baby and still is in good working order.

This toy car carrier packs a lot of fun and includes two toy sports cars.  Ideal for outdoor and indoor play, the truck turns effortlessly making it easy to push or pull around. The truck also decouples from hauler and the ramp flips down to load the cars inside. Ideal for ages 18 months plus. RSP: R899.99

Little Tikes Handle Haulers – Truck

First off I was apprehensive as this toy makes sounds. I’m the parent who cringes at a toy that makes loud sounds because as you know, kids will press that darn button a gazillion times in one day! The good news is that the sound is quite soft but still audible for the child playing with it to hear it. The great news is that it doesn’t disturb anyone else!!! Troll has been pushing that button to his heart’s content and no one is complaining 🙂

This friendly-faced Handle Haulers Truck encourages children to get down on the floor and play. The easy to grip, handheld car is easy to push. Little Tikes Handle Haulers are great toys for kids as they encourage energetic floor play and hours of pretend fun. Ideal for ages 12 months plus. RSP: R299.99

There are various Little Tikes products to choose from.

Available at toy stores countrywide. For more information go to www.primatoys.co.za

Just keep swimming with Spurt_SA *win*

Spurt is the leading suppliers of swimming apparel in South Africa. The brand is loved for its innovative patterns and colours and comfortable fit. With an extensive range of accessories and swimming aids for beginners and athletes.  Shop today www.spurt.co.za

Why Swimming lessons ARE important

Dudie has been swimming with an instructor for almost 6 years of his life. This child is literally like a fish in water. He can take one deep breath and swim with only THAT one breath underwater for 25metres… I mean he is 8 years old. How is that even possible? He swims freestyle/breaststroke and backstroke with ease. He says “butterfly” is a little hard. Believe me if you must see my strokes (I don’t even know if I can call it strokes) you might feel the need to dive in and save me. In the featured image Dudie is sporting a silicone swimming cap and goggles from Spurt_SA. Even though the cap looked small, it fitted his head like a glove. I mean really who doesn’t want a shark fin, as Dudie calls it, on your head. Those goggles, man alive if your kid(s) uses goggles You will know what a pain it is to find good fitting goggles. I don’t use goggles but according to Dudie these goggles don’t go “fuzzy” like the others. What he is referring to is the anti fog feature on the Spurt_SA goggles. No need to remove and rinse your goggles. They stay clear. Dudie gave both products a thumbs up!

SHARK! Shark approaching

Swimming lessons is probably one of the most important lessons/gifts that you can possibly teach/give your child(ren).
I have heard of way too many accidents around water and what freaks me out even more is that it happens within a split second. I would rather pay for swimming lessons than have a child that is not water safe (babies) or able to swim.
We have a pool at home so I’m ALWAYS on high alert when we are around water. Have you ever noticed how often you or your kid(s) come into contact with water? Maybe not at your home but when on holiday/visiting family or friends that have a swimming pool/perhaps there is a pool at school? Dudie swims in his school team. Not only does he do the compulsory class swimming applicable to every student at that school but also trains for the school team 3 times per week and then has 1 private lesson per week. This sounds insanely hectic but when you do what you LOVE then it doesn’t feel like work… (Side note – I wish my school had forced us to participate in class swimming.)

Where to get swimming lessons

I see the financial stress on families of trying to make ends meet and yes a swimming lesson might be out of budget now BUT what is stopping you or a fmaily member from teaching your kid(s) to swim? Unless you yourself can’t swim. Did you know that some public swimming pools offer swimming lessons sometimes free of charge and if not free it is a small fraction of the costs of a private swimming school?
I am a nervous wreck around kids and adults who CANNOT swim! Enough of my lessons, here is the FUN part!

WIN some swimming accessories for your child

Spurt wants to spoil a child with some swimming accessories which includes a funky silicone swimming cap, goggles and a nose clip. Dudie doesn’t use a nose clip but this Mom will be practising with it 🙂

*Win* an Eau Thermale Avene hamper

At the #jozimeetup bloggers event a few weeks ago, I won a spot prize, the Eau Thermale Avéne Hamper. What an incredible spoil! The prize was sponsored by AutographPR and some of you may remember Nicole Sparrow’s post “Please iron the sheets”. So for my pic, I used a towel because I’m a wife/mom/home exec/doctor/nurse/friend/lover/disciplinarian, etc, etc and frankly don’t have time to iron the sheets…

I have sensitive skin and don’t dare chop and change my skincare regime, just willy nilly… If I find one that works and use it forever. Until I tried Avéne…The hamper included the following:

  • Micellar Lotion
  • Mattifying Fluid
  • Soothing Moisture Mask
  • Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream
  • Cold Cream Shower Gel
  • Sunscreen SPF 50+
  • Thermal Spring Water (If there is one product you MUST try, this is it! So many uses. Some miracle water…)

The products are easy to use. I hardly have 5mins to perform a skincare routine in the morning. It’s slightly easier at night when everyone has gone to bed but then the chores are waiting. I use the mask and do some chores whilst I wait for it to perform its magic on my face.

The result is that my skin is as soft and smooth as Troll’s bottom. The cold cream gel wash is excellent in the shower as my skin feels moisturised just by washing it. The Thermale Water is apparently great for nappy rash. I can’t attest for that as thankfully we have had no issues thus far. But it is great for nicks and cuts as well as razor burn. During Winter my skin gets super dry and itchy, thanks to the Gauteng climate, but I sprayed my legs with the Thermale Water and Voila! No more itchy skin. Dudie seems to suffer from eczema and this water also soothes and calms his skin…I can see the difference.

I am sensitive to sunscreen so I always use a sunscreen separately from my moisturiser. As soon as it is included in the moisturiser – my skin suffers a breakout. On Dudie’s match days I like to add a little extra protection. The Avéne sunscreen is a fabulous add on as my family doesn’t look all pale and ashy as with other sunscreens.

I am very happy with the results thus far. My skin is definitely happy too…

Now, who would like to WIN this hamper??? The hamper is worth R2000 and you will receive exactly what I received, courtesy from AutographPR

Put your best “leg” forward with Adriansa

*sponsored*

A little while ago, I received some products to review. I don’t know about you but it has become more and more apparent and important for me to trust fellow human interactors to review products. I am NOT just going to splurge my hard earned cash on something just because…well ok we all have certain things that we buy just because. BUT there is definitely an increase in consumers needing trustworthy opinions and reviews.

I received a package from Adriansa

adriansa

AdrianSA

“Adrian South Africa was born out of the need to provide Women In South Africa and Africa with stylish leggings and stockings. The Factory Adrian Fabryka Rajstopy was established in 1984 in Poland. Currently the second largest manufacturer of high quality ladies hosiery in Poland and supplying global multinational brands Adrian has become a truly global brand. Created, Designed and Owned by Women. Adrian is the only women owned establishment manufacturing and employing mostly women in its manufacturing plants throughout the world. Our monthly production of tights, socks, leggings and hold ups exceeds 1 million pairs in all the latest fashionable patterns, colours and trends. Our Award winning products can be bought all over the world and now right here in South Africa. Adrian South Africa is a partnership between Adrian Fabryka Rajstopy Poland and Adrian South Africa ‘s CEO Mrs Nasrin Ebrahim Ismail in empowering South African Women.”

Adriansa has already featured in GLAMOUR guides, you can read the article here.

AdrianSA, not your average stockings

Now let me point out that this is not your conventional blackmail or bare beige stockings as we know it. This is fashionable and sexy indeed. These days pregnant women can be fashionable. The maternity leggings are really comfy and soft to the touch. What I love most is the “mamma pouch” as I call it. It supports my ever growing belly and it fits comfortably over my belly.

The Tania stockings (they all have individual names) – besides a fashionable pattern, has a reinforced crotch which is a bonus as I generally tug and pull on my stockings to get it to fit just right. A very interesting fact is that it is marked left and right, in the crotch to ensure you know which leg goes where. (Somehow this has always bothered me cos I never knew the front from the back or if I was wearing my stockings the right way around.)

CupofSox

Have you heard of the world famous CupofSox. Generally, I don’t buy such longs socks as I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and most socks just feel like it’s choking my legs. However, CupofSox are light weight, breathable and very comfortable around my legs. Guys these socks actually have a refreshing scent. The secret to keeping that scent is to store your socks in its cup after you have washed them. Did you see the pretty birds on them? Also, I think it constitutes a cool gift-so much better than your average pair of socks.

I also received the kit ray- it’s a bottle sock, which essentially is a bottle warmer. Now I am most excited to try this one out for the resident alien, but it seems Dudie has decided he will just help himself to this one. He uses it to keep his drinks warm😁

Also included was the Shapewear with anti-cellulite effect. If I wasn’t #30weekspregnant I would be wearing it right now…but I will most definitely be trying this once the baby is born. Who would want to try this Shapewear?

Adriansa has a fully functional online store, you can shop here. Did I mention that this product is endorsed by European standards… You will find the leggings, stockings, maternity wear, Shapewear as well as CupofSox but you will also find they are introducing some new products like Handel Street-the uber leather duffel bags.

It’s not all about women either. They have a mens range too – Meggings for men. Go on have a look, www.adriansa.co.za perhaps you could be your own “secret santa”….

Happy shopping.

*PG* Germs were killed!

I received a delivery at work last week and I knew exactly where it was coming from. What was in the box was a mystery….

The kind people over at Dettol sent me a gift. *smile* Oh who am I kidding, I was over the moon just to receive a parcel.

<Even if you send me a box filled with nothing but bubblewrap I’ll still be excited 🙂 >

They have asked me to review their Daily Care soap. Now, I don’t generally use soap. Heck, I’m embarrassed as whenever we receive guests, I have to dash to the shops to go buy whatever soap is available (read: on special as the guests are not likely to finish it then I end up throwing it out). I don’t keep soap in the house.

Both Dudie and I have sensitive skins and I’m extremely careful when choosing body products. The Dude is easy going. So, in preparation for our mini getaway, I decided to pack some Dettol soap and travel sans body wash/shower gels…

This is our experience:

Spiritedmama – It’s a win win situation. It doesn’t dry out my skin and I definitely don’t have that tight feeling afterwards. My skin felt softer. I forgot to pack my face wash and braved it with the Dettol soap on my face (I know you’re not suppose to use soap on your face but hey I needed to wash my face) my skin was fine. I also liked the soft fragrance, just enough not to irritate my sinusitis.

Dudie – His skin felt soft and I do think that it helped with eczema that he has behind his knee. See this child of my also suffers with eczema. Looking at his eczema this morning I wonder if this Dettol soap is aiding with healing this eczema???? I did notice that he had fewer dry patches on his body.

Dude – He loves it! At the breakfast table on Monday, he pipes up “I smell so clean”. Well, I think so too. It’s a fresh smell rather than a soapy smell.

I would definitely recommend Dettol Daily Soap to anyone. It’s easy to pack too. Rather than having a bottle of some body wash expand in flight and explode in your face as you open it after you’ve landed…. (This has happened. Please do not try this at home. It’s dangerous).

P.S. Thanks for my fluffy gown too. And the boxing gloves are a “hit” with Dudie.
